How is this calculated?

Methodology

This calculator uses relative cost multipliers rather than absolute dollars, normalizing every comparison against a LiFePO4 baseline of 1×. Each factor (initial cost, replacements, labor, maintenance, efficiency) is expressed as a ratio of lead-acid to LiFePO4. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is the sum of these factors over the selected analysis period.

Industry-Standard Benchmarks

  • LiFePO4 cycle life: 2,000+ cycles (commonly 3,000–6,000 in real deployment)
  • Lead-acid cycle life: 300–500 cycles (up to 1,000 for premium AGM)
  • Charging efficiency: LiFePO4 ~95–99%, lead-acid ~70–85%
  • Depth of Discharge: LiFePO4 80–100% usable, lead-acid limited to ~50% to preserve life
  • Initial cost ratio: Lead-acid typically 30–50% of LiFePO4 upfront cost (varies by application and capacity)

Why Numbers Vary by Product Line

  • FlexiBlock (General-Purpose) — Versatile baseline benchmark suitable for industrial, golf cart, marine, and RV applications. Lead-acid in typical commercial duty lasts ~2 years.
  • e2Power (E-Motorcycles, E-Bikes, E-Scooters / Vespas) — Heat and vibration shorten lead-acid life; smaller systems mean less labor savings but consistent efficiency gains. Lithium's weight advantage directly translates to range and handling improvements.
  • MegaFlow LEVs (Golf Cart / Low-Speed EV) — Light recreational use lets lead-acid last 3–5 years, so the savings gap narrows in shorter timeframes but grows over a decade.
  • MegaFlow AWPs (Scissor Lift / Boom) — Rental fleets demand uptime; opportunity charging and cold-weather performance favor LiFePO4.
  • MegaFlow Lift Trucks — Multi-shift operations exhaust lead-acid in 1.5–2 years; battery swap labor and watering compound costs aggressively. Highest savings.
  • MegaFlow RVs (RV / Marine) — Seasonal use is gentlest on lead-acid (especially AGM), so 3-year savings are smaller; lithium's weight advantage and DoD benefits dominate long-term.

Important Disclaimers

  • Estimates are directional benchmarks, not engineering guarantees.
  • Actual savings depend on duty cycle, depth of discharge, ambient temperature, charging discipline, and operator practices.
